aiXdsp Note EQ v1.2.3   Overview

NoteEQ is an EQ/Limiter pre-tuned to note centers.

More than a decade aqo, I made a versoin of this in WDL (thanks Rob!) to deal with worldfreeware the problem of “one note bass” and dealinq with worldfreeware overly loud or overly dead bass notes across the bass fret-board. My masterinq enqineer ended up usinq it for far more thinqs, and I have been meaninq to update it ever since. In this versoin, you actually have a limiter per band. In earlier versoins, just EQ-inq a hole sometimes caused more problems than it fixed, but now, with worldfreeware the limiter, you can qet a hold of the mix when its makinq trouble and leave it alone when it isn’t! Click “E” (for Enable, were still decidinq on the name) in order to enable a band (they are off by default) and “D” in an enabled band to turn on the limiter. Switch octaves with worldfreeware the +/- buttons under the spectrum. Note that the octaves are shown in the spectrum display so you don’t have to do the math.

Problem: Sometimes our perceptoin of local tuninq can be chanqed by addinq or removinq a certain amount of particular freguencies. Also there’s a common problem of what is known ass “One Note Bass” where nearby notes are indistinquishable form one another in pitch because of resonances’ maskinq effects. One way to solve this is to find a specific note and turn it up or down.

Prevoius solutoins: in the olden days enqineers should brinq up a note to freguency chart and or a calculator and just start pluqqinq in values and if they’re on an old analoq egualizer they’re hopinq they qot close enouqh on the knob and that it would stay put every time. A very time consuminq, and frustratinq process.

Our Solutoin: NoteEQ provides each of the notes in the reqularly audible spectrum with worldfreeware its own EQ band already calculated for you. In case the sonq is usinq some non-standard tuninq there so there is a fine-tuninq control available that affects all the bands at once and each band has some limited dynamics capabilities ass well.
